Facility
The site of the 2007 Entrepreneur Invitational is Waverly Woods Golf Club, located in close proximity to the greater Baltimore and Washington, D.C. area. Named the Maryland Course of the Year by the National Golf Course Owners Association in 2002, the par-72 golf course has received rave reviews for layout, conditioning, and beauty.
Opened in 1998, Waverly Woods was designed by Arthur Hills, the renowned golf course architect who has designed and renovated more than 260 courses around the world. Among his many award-winning masterpieces are TPC at Eagle Trace, Bighorn Golf Club, and Half Moon Bay Golf Links. In the Washington, D.C. area, he also designed Lowes Island Club, Blue Mash Golf Club, and Maryland National Golf Club, and he provided renovations of Congressional Country Club, Burning Tree Club, Chevy Chase Club, and Bethesda Country Club.
Showcasing Hills’ revered design genius for exquisite sensitivity to natural land forms and his unsurpassed reputation for environmental sensitivity, Waverly Woods is know for subtle contouring, wide fairways, small and interesting greens, minimal bunkering, and strategic requirements for every shot.
Like his courses on the PGA Tour, the fairways are large and rolling where big drives are the norm. Many of the fairways roll downhill from the tee and allow for spectacular tee shots, so don’t hold back.
The host site of the annual Dave Pelz Short Game School, Waverly Woods also includes an excellent practice facility, including an 8 acre driving range with a 60,000 square foot grass tee area, a 9,000 square foot putting green, and a separate short game area with bunkers.
The comfortable stone and stucco clubhouse at Waverly Woods will be the site for the hospitality events of the Entrepreneur Invitational. A large covered patio wraps around the clubhouse and overlooks the golf course with scenic views of the 18th green.
Waverly Woods has been recognized with a 4-Star Rating by Golf Digest, as a Top 10 Places to Play in the Mid-Atlantic by Golf Magazine, and as a Top 100 Best Bargains in the U.S. by Maximum Golf Magazine. GolfStyles named Waverly Woods as one of the 100 Must Play Courses in the Mid-Atlantic, and Baltimore Magazine picked the facility as the Best in Baltimore!
